Goonies Camporee Results

We are back and here is a partial update on the Goonies Camporee. Troop 180 went to the Goonies Camporee over the weekend, and they split into two temporary patrols the "Cucumbers" and the "Floppy Unicorns for size purposes. The events were the canoe race, bmx biking, fire starting, first aid, egg drop, another canoe race, and the dance-off. The Cucumbers patrol had the canoe race with a Bacon Ninjas patrol member, and an Ice Wolves patrol member. The canoe race was to paddle to the aquatics loge and have the rest of the patrol get there and help the people in the canoe carry the it around the fire pit and back into the lake. The stats for this event and for the other events will be told in a future post. Then there was bmx biking, which the Cucumbers and Floppy unicorns didn't do because Troop 180 was not informed that they needed to bring their own bmx bikes. While the Cucumbers were walking down the trail they found another event which was to stack the blocks of wood that had the points of the Scout Law, and they were being timed. The other part of the event was a memory game. They had to look at some tools for a certain amount of time, and then they were covered with a cloth. They had to say what was under the cloth. After that event the Cucumbers went to lunch early since some events were messed up. After lunch they had time to discuss what to do for the egg drop. The way the egg drop worked was that to had a patrol member climb up the ladder of the climbing tower, that was fifty feet tall, and to drop the egg from the tower with a contraption to protect the egg. Since the egg was given before the event you could use it to practice. The strategy for both patrols was to hard boil their eggs. The Cucumbers took a plastic water bottle and stuffed it with bread inside it with the egg. Then they duck-taped bread around the bottle. They called it "Breadflecs by Cucumber". The Floppy Unicorns' got a tea pot and put cushioning inside the pot, and duck-taped the lid on to the pot tight. The results of the egg drop will be announced in a future post. Also a video of Bread fecs will be shown in a video. After the egg drop there was two options: go to the second canoe race, or go to the dance-off. The Cucumbers and Floppy Unicorns chose to go to the second canoe race with the same people who did the first canoe race except since an Ice Wolves patrol member wanted to ride he joined. For the Floppy Unicorns, all three Leading Lamas patrol members were in the canoe. There was going to be two laps this time instead of one like the first race. When the canoe race started the Floppy Unicorns were in second, and the Cucumbers were in third. The reason the Cucumbers were currently behind was that there was extra weight on the canoe. Since that extra weight was the Ice Wolves member who wanted to ride, when the canoe came back completing the first lap they had the Ice Wolves passenger get out. The final results for the canoe race will be told in anther post. After the canoe race the Cucumbers went back to camp and had dinner. After dinner everyone went to the campfire at the amphitheater. Troop 180 did the song "Frogy", and the skit called "The Infantry". During the campfire it started to pour, and everyone went to the pavilion. Once everyone got sick of being at the pavilion Troop 180 went back to the campsite. Some people stayed under the canopy, and others stayed in their tents and went to bed early. They next day everyone packed up, and went to the closing ceremony. At the ceremony the awards were given out. We are proud to announce that Troop 180 won first place overall. They were given a ribbon to add on to the many ribbons that they have. We hope that they all had a great time, and that all new cross-overs had a great time, since it was their first Camporee.
